Helen M. Zeimetz, 96, of Wabasha, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at St. Elizabeth's Health Care Center in Wabasha.

She was born May 29, 1917, in Wabasha, the daughter of Henry and Sophie (Bootz) Wodele. She married Edward Zeimetz Aug. 23, 1938, at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha. Ed died Aug. 1, 1985. Helen was a homemaker. She also worked at the Wabasha Egg Plant and she cooked at the Idle Hour Restaurant and the Pioneer Supper Club, both of Wabasha. Helen worked for 20 years in the laundry department at the St. Elizabeth's Nursing Homes as well.

She was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women. She was also a lifelong member of the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post #4086 and the Wabasha American Legion Post #50 Auxiliaries. She enjoyed cooking, baking and especially spending time with her family.

Helen is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Bonnie Zeimetz, Mondovi, Wis., and William and Sandy Zeimetz, Kenosha, Wis.; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Schmidt, Neillsville, Wis., Jean and Larry Mytten, Wabasha, and Linda and Lynn Hager, Medford; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Bernice Kondro, Burbank, Calif., Doris Warnken, Hudson, Wis., and Beatrice Beck, Penn Valley, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Catherine Wodele and Anna Mae Wodele, both of Wabasha; and more than 150 nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband,Edward, son, Thomas, daughter, Joanne, son-in-law, William Schmidt, five brothers, Harold, James, Clarence, Ralph and John Wodele, and nine sisters, Harriet Wodele, Margaret Cox, Mabel Wildes, Dorine Knose, Ethel Furne, Mary Marx, Emily Ford, Clara Lund and Catherine Whitcomb.

A funeral Mass will be offered Tuesday, June 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha, with the Rev. Joseph LaPlante officiating. Interment will be in St. Felix Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Jon and Jeffry Zeimetz, Brett Zeimetz, Larry Hager, Callie Craig and Michael Schmidt.

Honorary bearers will be Scott Zeimetz, Carrie Schmidt, Rob Hager, Travis and Dustin Mytten.

Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
