Mrs. Bernice Detwiler, 80, a guest of the Morrisons Cove Home, Martinsburg, formerly of New Enterprise, died unexpectedly at 9:25 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 1974, at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring. She was born at New Enterprise, Dec. 17, 1893, a daughter of James B. and Kathryn (Miller) Beach. She was first married to Horace Snoeberger in 1913 at Curryville; he preceded her in death in February 1939. She later married J. S. Detwiler on May 10, 1950; he preceded her in death Sept. 17 1967. She is survived by four children: Glenn, of Huntington Park, Calif.; Robert A., of New Paris; Clarence, of New Enterprise, and Mrs. Jean C. Weaver, of Saxton; also eight step-children: Paul I., of Bedford; Mrs. Prudence Furry and C. Galen, both of Everett; Mrs. Cleo Hershberger, of New Enterprise; Dale W. of Roaring Spring; Emmert I., of Huntingdon; R. Marguerite, of Polk, and Mrs. Cora Jane Miller, of Warsaw, Ind.; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Harry M., of Bradenton, Fla., and Clair, of Altoona, and one sister, Mrs. Lottie Kinsel, of Los Angeles, Calif. Mrs. Detwiler was a member of the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren. Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 5, at 2 p.m. at the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren, in charge of Rev. Ira W. Gibbel. Burial was in New Enterprise Cemetery. Arrangements were made by S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home, Woodbury.
