Dovalee Harris Shilling, 75, of 946 Valley Drive, Fieldale, died July 6, 2008, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
She was born in Carroll County on June 25, 1933, to Clyde L. and Barbara Dalton Harris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ida Dean Whitlow.
She was of the Baptist faith and graduated from Fieldale High School in 1951. She worked at DuPont for many years, kept children in her home, worked for the Southern Area Agency on Aging and was co-owner of a transport service with her husband.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, William L. "Bill" Shilling of the home; two sons, William L. "Billy" Shilling II of Bassett and Gregory A. "Greg" Shilling of Surfside Beach, S.C.; a daughter, Regina Lee Shilling of Fieldale; three sisters, Pearlie Reynolds of Fieldale, Alma Stultz of Ridgeway and Gail Mayhew of Chatham; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home with S.T. Fulcher Jr. conducting the service. Burial will be in the Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the home in Fieldale.
