Thomas G. Broughton, Sr., Esq., the venerable editor of the Norfolk Herald, died on Saturday last. He had attained his 75th year.

Thomas G. Broughton, Esq., who had been editor of the Norfolk Herald uninterruptedly since 1821, died a few days ago. The Norfolk Day-Book says:
“Mr. Broughton was born in Princess Anne County, Va. during the year of 1786, and was therefore 75 years of age at the time of his death. In the year of 1821 he assumed the position of senior editor of the Harald, published in this city, which position he continued to fill without intermission until his decease, a period of more than forty years. During this long time he has seldom if ever been absent from his post, discharging fearlessly and faithfully the duties devolving upon him. Mr. Broughton has filled a number of public positions, among them that of member of the City Council and Secretary to the Board of Health”.

We learn from Petersburg (VA) Express that Thomas G. Broughton, the veteran editor of the Norfolk Harald, died on the 28th ult., at the advanced age of 75 years. For more than forty years Mr. Broughton had edited the Harald with marked ability, besides filling many responsible offices of honor and trust. He was very highly esteemed.

We have the following news from the Richmond Enquirer of the 28th ult.:
Death of the Nestor of the Virginia Press- Thomas G. Broughton, Esq., who had been editor of the Norfolk Herald uninterruptedly since 1821, died a few days ago. The Norfolk Day-Book says:
“Mr. Broughton was born in Princess Anne County, Va. during the year of 1786, and was therefore 75 years of age at the time of his death. In the year of 1821 he assumed the position of senior editor of the Harald, published in this city, which position he continued to fill without intermission until his decease, a period of more than forty years.”
