Howard Bird, former legislator, dies at age 93.

Madison, Ind.--J. Howard Bird, a former Indiana representative, died yesterday at Clifty Falls Convalescent Center after an unspecified illness. He was 93.

Bird, a Republican, served in the House in 1957 and 1958. He also had been chairman of the Jefferson County Republican Party.

He was a native of Trimble County, Ky.; former co-owner of Knoebel-Bird Clothing Store; and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Elks Lodge, Kiwanis Club, Madison Masonic Lodge, Murat Shrine and Scottish Rite Temple.

He is survived by his wife, the former Anne Hoover.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Vail-Holt Madison Funeral Home, with burial in Springdale Cemetery.

Madison, Ind.--J. Howard Bird, a former Indiana representative, died yesterday at Clifty Falls Convalescent Center after an unspecified illness. He was 93.

Bird, a Republican, served in the House in 1957 and 1958. He also had been chairman of the Jefferson County Republican Party.
