Mrs. Mitchell was the daughter of the late Willie and Ella Rhoden Hair. She was the last member of her immediate family which consisted on nine children. She was predeceased by her husband, The Rev. James B. Mitchell.
Surviving are her nieces, Barbara Galarneau (Claude), Fredna Bartles (Dave), Nancy Lambert (Lanny), Miriam Hair, all of Columbia; nephew, Bobby Hair (Shirley) of Joanna; and many great-nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Rosemont Cemetery, Clinton, S.C. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in the Rasor Chapel at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community in Laurens. Visitation will follow.

Mrs. Mitchell was a graduate of Presbyterian College. She was a teacher and counselor with the Clinton District 56 School District for 21 years. In 1986, she was named Senior Adult Woman of the Year at First Baptist Church of Columbia, where she was a member, taught Sunday School and English as a second language to the internationals. She was also very active in the WMU.
The family would like to thank the staff of Martha Franks for their compassionate care, love and friendship and to Dina Hair, her devoted great-niece who cared for her.
