Son of William Bengrey (1792 - 1859) and Ann Vale (1803 - ????).

Thomas married Elizabeth (Betsy) Mason on the 16th October 1860 in Heyop, Radnorshire, Wales.

Thomas and Ann had ten children, including a set of twins, of which one died, Edwin at the age of 8. Their youngest child George was killed in action in France, in 1918.

The 1871 Census states that Thomas was the innkeeper at The Bell Inn, Yarpole Village, Herefordshire, and that he was also a farmer of 32 acres.

He was widowed when Elizabeth died in 1905.
Thomas lived at The Bell Inn with his family, for over 50 years, until his death.

His daughter Alice was the last of his children to die, in 1957, and she was still living at The Bell Inn (pictured left as it is today).

The death took place on Sunday last of Mr. Thomas Bengree, landlord of The Bell Inn, Yarpole, who passed away at the advanced age of 86. Mr. Bengree had only been laid up for four or five weeks and was an old resident of the parish, having held the license of The Bell for about 50 years. His wife died sime years ago. He leaves several children.

Laid to rest on the 27th January, possibly at St. Leonard's Church, in Yarpole.
