James and family left there about 1755 and settled at Lost River, Hardy Co, WV. He helped build a road to Fredericksburg, VA. DAR Records list him for patriotic service during the Revolution. Son of James Claypoole, Sr. and Mary Cann. Married Jane (?Byrd?) Claypoole about 1729. Father of William Claypoole, James Claypoole, John Claypoole, Joseph Claypoole, Mary Claypoole, Elizabeth Claypoole, Sarah Claypoole, George Claypoole, and Jesse Claypoole. James is my 6th great-grandfather.
