Alice May Leonard Nichols, 100, of North Vernon, died at 11:48 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at her residence.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Ivan) Scroggins of Franklin; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Gilbert A. Leonard and Homer A. Nichols; and a son, Robert Leonard Sr.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Revs. Tom Horton and Richard Burcham officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.

Alice May Leonard Nichols, 100, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 11:48 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at her residence.
Alice was born on May 1, 1913 in Vernon, Indiana the daughter of James Arnold, Sr. and Flora C. Hartwell. She married Gilbert A. Leonard in May of 1934; he preceded her in death in 1984. She married her second husband, Homer A. Nichols in July of 1989; he preceded her in death in February of 1999.
Alice worked as a cashier for the Jay-C Store in North Vernon for 21 years retiring in 1978. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church in North Vernon, Indiana. She was a 1931 graduate of North Vernon High School. Her enjoyments were homemaking, flowers and family time with her grandkids.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Ivan) Scroggins of Franklin, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Alwyna Leonard of North Vernon, Indiana; five grandchildren, Dennis Leonard, Robert (Frances) Leonard, Jr., Kevin S. (Kathie) Leonard, I., and Jeffrey (Patti) Leonard all of North Vernon, Indiana and Robert D. Williams of Columbus, Indiana; eleven great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Gilbert A. Leonard and Homer A. Nichols; a son, Robert Leonard, Sr.; four brothers, Arthur, Paul, Roy and James Arnold, Jr.; a sister, Helen Wheeler.
