Robert Lee Leonard, Sr., passes away at his home
Robert Lee Leonard, Sr., 67, of North Vernon died at 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at his residence.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Horton officiating. A dove release will follow the service. Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Mr. Leonard retired as a salesman in 1976 after 18 years with the North Vernon Beverage Company. He was a member of North Vernon Church of Christ and Sky Writers CB Club. He was a former member of Clifty Creek Coon Hunters Club. He attended North Vernon High School. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and racing.
Born on Nov. 21, 1941, in North Vernon, he was the son of Alice Arnold Leonard of North Vernon and the late Gilbert Leonard. He married Alwyna J. Horton on Feb. 14, 1960, at Centerville Baptist Church in Jennings County.
Surviving with his wife and mother are three sons, Robert Leonard, Jr., Kevin Leonard and Jeffery Leonard of North Vernon; a sister, Barbara Jean Scroggins of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Addie Redicker, Josh, Scottie, Kayla, Kasey and Jesse Leonard, and Audra Lawdermilt; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Jennings County, The American Cancer Society and North Vernon Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Leonard.
