Ethel is listed in the 1880 Census, Vandalia, Audrain Co., MO, as Annie Ethel Anderson, born in MO. That is the only record found in which her first name is Annie (or possibly Anne); she went by Ethel in subsequent records.

Ethel first married Walter Hamilton in 1896 in Grayson Co., TX. She bore a son, William Herbert Hamilton on 11 Mar 1898. Walter Hamilton, a "prominent young business man," died on 29 Apr 1899, in Grayson Co., of spinal meningitis, as reported in the Houston Post the same day (FaG 79213301). He may be the Walter Hamilton, age 5, living in Fort Bend Co., TX in 1880, with his parents Edward and Frances Hamilton.

Ethel was living with her widowed mother in 1900. Her son, William is not listed in the census, although it was noted that she had borne 1 child still living.

Ethel married William Henry Archer on 21 Jul 1903, in Taylor Co., TX. In the 1910 Census Ethel, William, her son , William Hamilton, and their son Charles Archer, 6, were living in Abilene, TX. William was a cashier for a railroad office. By 1920 they had moved to Wichita Falls, TX. William still worked for a railroad. Ethel's son, who went by Hebert, was a department store clerk. Her son, who went by Milton, attended school.

1n 18 May 1925, Ethel, 45 yr, 3 mo, 6 da, born 12 Feb 1880 in MO, died in Wichita Falls, Wichita Co., TX. Cause of death was carcinoma of the uterus. She was a housewife residing at 1801 Fillmore, Wichita Falls. Her parents were W.H. Anderson and Sallie Crooks. Her spouse and the informant was W.H. Archer, Wichita Falls. Burial was to be on 20 May 1925 in Abilene, TX.
