Luigi was born in the commune of Celico in Italy to parents Raffaelo and Maria Serra. He came to the United States because of tough economic times in his home country. He went to work as a miner. He returned to Celico to marry Carmela Scarpelli. They had two children: Antonio and Victorio. Luigi returned to America to continue his work. He was working at the coal mines in Whitman, Virginia. Carmela was notified of his death, but never really found out what happened to him. His sons never really met their father.

Almost 80 years later, the riddle of his death was solved; at least partially. It has been discovered that he was accidentally shot and killed. He died in Holden and reportedly laid to rest in Whitman Cemetery. Now, the next step is to find out why he died.
