Thomas Dent Edwards, Jr. was the son of Thomas Dent Edwards, Sr. and Martha D. (Pierce) Edwards. His paternal grandparents were: Josiah Edwards and Sallie (Wright) Edwards. His maternal grandparents were Isaac Pierce and Elizabeth W. Drane.

He married Sallie Frances Floyd, 1854-1902, daughter of Thomas William Floyd and Eliza Hope (Fogle) Floyd. One of their children was Dora Ann (Edwards) Whitehouse.

Thomas Dent Edwards, Jr.'s death certificate #31080 says he died in Voting Precinct No. 1 in Marion County, KY. It says he died of bronchial pneumonia following LaGrippe, aged 60 years, five months and three days. Thomas D. was born Sept. 26, 1855 in Kentucky to Thomas D. and Marthia (sic) (Pierce) Edwards. His physician was Dr. J. L. Putnam of Penick, KY. The informant for this certificate was G. E. Hundley. He was buried in Edwards Cemetery on Dec. 31, 1915. The undertaker was C. U. Bosley of Lebanon, KY.
