WHITESVILLE (Special) - John Porter Acord, 70, former justice of the peace and merchant of Naomi, Raleigh county, died yesterday at his home.
Mr. Acord owned a general store and also served as magistrate for eight years. Before he operated the store he was a miner.
Surviving are his wife, Etta; four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Gyovai and Mrs. Velma Gyovai, both of Naomi, Mrs. Esther Hendrick of Beckley and Mrs. Vione O'Neal of Eastland, Tenn.; two brothers, G.B. and A.C. Acord, both of Van; a sister, Mrs. Laura Clay of Pettus, and 13 grandchildren.
Services will be in the Free Will Baptist church at Naomi tomorrow at 2 p.m. with the Revs. R.H. Doan and H.N. Boley officiating. Burial will be in Naomi cemetery.
The body is at Armstrong mortuary here and will be taken to the home late today.
