John Francis Gauthier was the son of Joseph Gauthier (#89599660) and Margaret Castanier. He was married to Minnie Lucas Gauthier. Their children were Ruth Marie, John Francis, Jr., Esther Katherine, Lauretta, Douglas Lucas, Robert William and Edward Gauthier.

OBITUARY; MUSCATINE JOURNAL, FEB 16, 1931, PAGE 2 - DROPS DEAD AS HE DOES CHORES - John Francis Gauthier Died Suddenly at Home of His Daughter Near Wilton - Wilton - John Francis Gauthier, aged 60, dropped dead Saturday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harold Covell, five miles north of Wilton, where he had made his home for the past year. The body was found in the barnyard about 7:30 o'clock. He had gone there a short time before to do the chores. Heart trouble was pronounced the cause of his death. He had been ailing for the past year. The body was taken to the Fairbanks Funeral home in Muscatine to await funeral services which probably will be held Tuesday. He was born in Bankston, Ia., Jan. 31, 1871, and was married in 1898 to Minnie Lucas, who survives, together with three daughters and one son, Mrs. Harold Covell of Cedar County, Mrs. Lloyd Miller of Davenport, Miss Lauretta Gauthier of Minneapolis and Robert Gauthier of California. John Francis Gauthier, Jr., another son was killed in a cave-in accident in Muscatine in 1918 and another son died in infancy. He is also survived by one brother, Joseph Gauthier of Chicago. Mr. Gauthier was a member of the Eagles lodge at Muscatine.

OBITUARY; MUSCATINE JOURNAL, FEB 17, 1931, PAGE 11 - JOHN F. GAUTHIER - Funeral services for John Francis Gauthier, who died suddenly at his farm home, five miles north of Wilton, Saturday, were conducted at the Fairbanks Home for Funerals at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery. Pallbearers were members of the Eagles lodge here of which he was a member, Gerald Bayers, James Wilson, W. F. Tobias, Charles Strohm, Charles Cross and Albert Thompson.

Note; John Francis Gauthier had another living son, Douglas Lucas Gauthier, that was left out of the obituary.
