PROVO NATIVE SUCCUMBS AT 72

Richfield-Funeral services for Helen Newell Poulson, 82, of Richfield, a native of Provo, were held today in Richfield. Mrs. Poulson died Saturday morning in a Provo Hospital of a lingering illness.

She was born Dec. 8, 1896, in Provo a daughter of Myron C. and Alice Smoot Newell. She married Dr. Leslie A. Poulson on Jan. 18, 1923, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Active in the LDS Church, she had served as a Sevier Stake Chorister for many years. Mrs. Poulson had studied music in Philadelphia and Salt Lake and was active in Southern Utah musical circles.

She had been a teacher in Provo, Moab and Beaver schools.

Active in civic affairs, she was a member of the Richfield
Study Club and served as president of that organization from 1926 to 1928. She was also one of the first members of the Richfield American Legion Post Auxillary.

Survivors includes her husband of Richfield; three daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Carolyn) McBirney, Los Deltos, Calif.; Mrs. C. Lynn (Pamela) Scott of Riverside, Calif.; and Mrs. Clare (Antoinette) Johnson, Bellevue, Wash.; seven grandchildren; one brother and four sisters, Mrs. Ray (Anna) Brown, Columbus, Ind.; Mrs. Walter (Alice) Randall, Ogden; Mrs. Stanley (Mary) Clark and Clark Newell, both of Provo, and Mrs. Theodore (Afton) Raile, Whittier, Calif.

Burial was in the Richfield City Cemetery.
