NICHOLS, Ernest J. of Flint, age 89, died Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at his residence.
Ernest was born on May 11, 1921 in Onaway, Michigan, son of the late Edwin and Ada (Yerex) Nichols.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and has resided in Flint since 1947. On November 15, 1947 Ernest married Audrey Scriven. He retired from G.M. - Buick Motors following 32 years of service and was a longtime member of North Baptist Church and most recently attended Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with his son Harold.

Ernest is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou (Charlie) Fuhr of Florida, sons Francis Nichols of Arkansas and Harold (Pam) Nichols of Flint, and a sister Lilliebell Dady of Pontiac. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Audrey (Scriven), on October 3, 1990, wife Vera (Riser) on September 20, 2003, a son, Ernest Nichols, Jr in Vietnam in 1968, four brothers Edwin A., Sonny, Forest, and twin brother Jesse, and one sister Marie Higgs.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc, with Rev. James Gosnell officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to North Baptist Church or Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
