Adlyn was born in Louisiana where she grew up with her parents, Nancy Jane Pipes Brooks and Robert A. Brooks along with twelve brothers and sisters.

The family faced many hardships and some scandal and all her siblings scattered to the winds.

She married John Wallace Rockefeller who was born Feb. 6th 1896 of Steel, North Dakota.

In the 1920 census they were living in Modesto, Stanislaus County California, where the sister she was closest to, Lena, also lived. They were inseparable as children which is evidenced by many family photos of the two of them.

They lived at 1839 S. Main St. in Los Angeles according to John's WWII draft registration card. It states that he owned a café on E. 7th St.

In the 1940 census they were living in Monrovia Judicial Township, Los Angeles, with caretaker Charles Tyman. The census record stated they were living in Glendale, Los Angeles California in 1935.

No children were listed in either census.

Gravesite Details

based on the plot numbering system, it looks like Adlyn is burried right next to her sister, Lena, who died the same year. *Note: Although it looks like a place was left on Adlyn's marker for her husband, he was apparently not burried next to her.
