Cecilio DeLaO Acosta, 82, of Marathon died Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Big Bend Regional Medical Center in Alpine.

Rosary was Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marathon. Funeral Mass was Monday, June 4, 2012 at the Catholic Church with Father Miguel Alcuino officiating. Burial followed at Marathon Cemetery.

Cecilio was born Nov. 22, 1929 in Mexico to Clara DeLaO and Jose R. Acosta. He was self-employed as a sheep shearer, and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marathon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Luz Garcia Acosta; sisters Manuela Marquez and Leandra Marquez, Antonia Torres, Maria Garcia, Margarita Garcia, and Herminia Gomez; brothers Gomezindo Acosta, Saturnino Acosta, Alpidio Acosta, and Reyes Acosta; and a son, Cecilio.

Survivors include his son, Jose Rodolfo and wife Tula of Del Rio; granddaughter Zelda Jo Benevides and husband David of Kerrville; grandsons Abel H. Acosta and Adrian H. Acosta of Del Rio; great grandsons Diego Benavides and Cristen Benavides of Kerrville; sisters Dominga Galindo and Rufina Bernal of Fort Stockton, Valentina Galindo and Gregoria Heredia of Midland; and brother Hilario Acosta of Odessa.
