Obituary from the Richmond Palladium, 8/18/1937:
Henry G. Elstro, 81 years old, former patrolman of the Richmond Police Department, died early Wednesday at Reid Memorial Hospital where he was taken about a week ago suffering from a heart ailment. Mr. Elstro was a native of Richmond, born 5/15/1856, and had spent his entire life here. For nearly 60 years he worked as a stonemason and in concrete work. Many person will remember Mr. Elstro, who was an ardent Democrat, as the drummer in the local campaign staged for Cleveland & Hendricks for President and Vice-President of the United States in 1884. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Mr. Elstro resided with Mr. & Mrs. George Elstro on South Fifth Street. He is survived by two sons, Fred and Edward Elstro, a brother Fred of Dayton Ohio and a sister Mrs. Catherine Steinmetz. Friends may call at the Unser and Walterman Funeral Home after Thursday noon. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9 am in St. Andrew's Church with Rt. Rev. Msgr. F.A. Roell officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Church Cemetery
