Banner Pioneer Passes Away (The Yukon Oklahoma Sun, 12 Dec 1935, pg 8.)

Robert LeForce, '89er and pioneer farmer passed away at his home one-half mile north of Banner, Wednesday of last week. Funeral services were held at the Banner church Sunday at 2 p. m., conducted by Rev. A .W. Hallmark, pastor of the Yukon Methodist church, an interment was made in Yukon cemetery with the Turner funeral home in charge. Robert Bingham Leforce was born near Pinesville, Ky., Jan. 9, 1855 and passed away at his home near Banner, Okla., Dec. 4, 1935 at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 25 days. He was reared on his father's farm until he was of age at which time he became deputy sheriff under his brother. After serving ten years in this capacity, he became Chief of Police of Williamsburg, Ky., He came west in 1888 working on the Stone and Wilson ranch in Kansas and Oklahoma. He made the "run" in 1889, homesteading on a quarter section one-half mile north of Banner. He was married to Jane Taylor Maine, Jan. 15, 1910 and to this union one son was born. His wife preceded him in death March 17, 1935. Survivors are his son, Robert Duane, Banner and three sisters, as follows. Mrs. Letitia Steele, Banner, Okla.; Mrs. Esther Steele, Williamsburg, Ky.; Mrs. Nancy (unfinished, probably Mrs. Nancy Brown.)
