Duane was born southwest of Hennessey on December 6, 1921 to Henry Calvin and Anna Bennett Croka and died Tuesday March 29, 2005 at St. Mary's Regional Hospital in Enid.

Duane grew up in the Hennessey and Lacey area and graduated from Hennessey High School. He attended Oklahoma A & M College until he entered the U. S. Army in WWII where he served in Japan.

He married Virginia Walterschiedt on January 15, 1944 in Stillwater. They lived on a farm in the Dover community before moving into Hennessey in 1973.

Duane was a member of the Dover School Board for fifteen years and a former member of the Hennessey Co-Op Board. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was actively involved in the St. Joseph's Men's Club.

Duane is survived by his wife Virginia of the home; one daughter, Diane Neeland and husband Kenneth; one son, Mark Croka; four grandchildren, Karen Swart and husband Richard, Kent Neeland, Kaci Croka, Lindsay Croka; two sisters, Lorene Best of Los Angeles, California and Connie Garrontte of Tucumcari, New Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ross Croka and Clyde Croka; one sister, Merna Harris and one daughter-in-law Robin Moulson Croka.
