President of Geneva Firm Dies Suddenly - Illness after Operation Results Fatally For George S Fairfax - Civic Leader In City - Was Fire Commissioner and Held Many Public Positions -
Geneva, May 11: George S. Fairfax, 66 years old, fire commissioner and a member of the Fairfax Brothers Company, which operates a paint and wall paper business in Geneva and Appen??, died today at his home No. 555 South main street. Mr. Fairfax was seriously ill for some time following an operation but his death was unexpected.
Mr. Fairfax was prominent in Geneva civic and business circles. He served as alderman and held other public positions prior to his appointment to the Fire Commission. He was a charter member of the Hydrant Hose Company ad a former president of the organization. He was also a member of the Masonic fraternity, Su???, Elks, Chamber of Commerce Geneva. Rod and Gun club Geneva. Auto Club and St. Peters Church. He was president of the Fairfax Brothers Company which ??? one of the ???? ???? in the ??? in this ??? and also was president of the Fairfax Realty Corporation.
He leaves his wide Mrs. Kittie D Fairfax; A daughter, Miss Blanche Fairfax, a stepson, Harry D. Marshall of Geneva. four brothers, Thomas H. Fairfax of Superior Wis., Willis T Fairfax, Charles W. Fairfax, and Frank E. Fairfax of Geneva and a half brother Alfred Fairfax of Geneva. Private funeral services will be held.

Funeral of George S. Fairfax
Funeral services for George S. Fairfax, who died yesterday morning at his home, 665 South Main street, will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock from his late residence-and will be private. Rev. Dr. J. BT Hubbs, former rector of St. Peter'* Episcopal church, will officiate and will be assisted by the present rector. Rev. Ross R. Calvin. The honorary bearers are Assemblyman R. A. Catchpole, Judge George F. Ditmars, Charles E. Coon, W. F. Humphrey, C. K. Benjamin and William Frmutz. The active bearers are men with
whom he had been associated in a business way: Messrs. H. O. Warden, manager of the Fairfax store in Auburn, D. S. Proseer, H A Wheeler, John Bows. H. Brown and H. R. Fink of this city. Interment will be made in Glenwood Cemetery.
