Born Dec. 1, 1889, in Naples, Italy, son of Luigi and Frances Verace. Lived 60 years in Rockford, coming here from Italy.
Owner and operator of the School Street Tavern for 10 years, retiring 20 years ago. Veteran of World War 1, serving in France with the U.S. Army. Member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include two brothers, Vince (Jim) Verace and Louis, both of Rockford; numerous nieces and nephews, and an uncle, Frank Calocorcio, Rockford.
Services Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at GASPARINI & OLIVERI FUNERAL HOME, 707 Marchesano Drive, and at 9 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church, with Rev. Edwin Bonach, pastor, officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
