Lucy was the daughter of Peter Thomas Renaud, Clerk in HM Duchy of Lancaster Office, and his wife Mary Frances Renaud. She was baptized on 30 Jun 1847 at St Luke's Church, Chelsea, her date of birth being recorded in the Baptism Register. She married Henry Clay Gallup on 14 Jun 1870 by Licence at St Luke's Church, Chelsea. They had one son, Henry Curtis Gallup (24 Oct 1874 - 7 Jun 1942).
