Abraham Sink married Elizabeth Fisher on 15 Dec 1845. They farmed and raised a family in Franklin County, VA. On 12 Oct 1863, at the age of 39, he enlisted as a Private in Company H of the 11th Virginia Infantry, CSA. He was captured by Union forces at the Battle of Five Forks on 01 Apr 1865. The loss by the Confederates of Five Forks caused General Lee to abandon Richmond and ultimately surrender the Army of Northern Virginia at Appomatox on 09 Apr 1865. Abraham Sink was a prisoner of war at Point Lookout, MD, until released on 20 Jun 1865. He was granted a pension for his Confederate army service by the State of Virginia in 1900.
Abraham Sink was a grandson and namesake of Abraham Sink, a Revolutionary War soldier (Find a Grave link 110682486).
