UNITED STATES ARMY VETERAN

Hazel Tackett-McNeely, 76, of Miami Oklahoma, died Monday May 27, 2013 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Mrs. McNeely was born April 25, 1937, in Picher, Oklahoma, to Jeneva Thena (Garland) Earp.

Her father, Herbert Elvis Earp, preceded her in death on April 5, 1937.

She was very active with her high school graduating class of 1955 from Picher, holding reunions every 3 years.

She served in the US Army in 1955 and 1956.

She graduated from NEO A&M College and attended MSSC for 1 year, and was an accountant for most of her adult life.

She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa in college, a lifetime member of the DAV, and the Elks Lodge in Miami. She was an avid pool player.

Survivors include her husband, Jack McNeely of the home, two sons, Don Beason of North Miami, Oklahoma and Bill Beason and his wife, Brenda, of Commerce, Oklahoma and a daughter, Sandy [Beason] Jester of Commerce, her sister, Shirley Mahurin of Tulsa Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Clayton Earp in 1930, and half-brothers Earnest Earp and Herbert E. Earp, Jr..

Graveside rites will be at G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami, Oklahoma, June 1, 2013 with Pastor Leon Weece officiating.

Mrs. McNeely's wishes were to be cremated.

Services are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, Oklahoma.
