Mrs. Margaret C. Delaney, aged 86, of Cooperstown, died Thursday, September 13 at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital.
She was born August 31, 1876, in Clongowney, Ofaly [sic] County, Ireland, the daughter of Byron [sic] and Maria Egan Crowe. She was married to Peter M. Delaney on June 8, 1915 in the Church of St. John the Evangelist, New York City. Mrs. Delaney came to the United States in 1895, and lived in Cooperstown the past 47 years. For several years before her marriage, she was employed on the household staff of Mrs. Stephen C. Clark, Sr.
She was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church of Cooperstown and the National Council of Catholic Women.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Peter M. Delaney, Jr. of Hicksville; one brother, James Crowe of Ireland; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Requiem Mass was offered at 9:30 a. m. on Saturday, September 15, at St. Mary's Church, by the Rev. Robert C. Murphy, pastor. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery at Index.
