Dillard Adney, son od Mr. and Mrs. Will Wilford Adney, Jr., joined the Seabees in July, 1943. He trained at Camp Peary, Virginia, and at Port Hueneme. He was with the Seabees in the Leyte campaign and was also stationed in New Guinea. Adney was a rancher in civilian life. He was awarded the Seabee insignia, the Asiatic-Pacific campaign ribbon with a battle star and the Philippine Liberation ribbon with two bronze stars. His rating was steamfitter, third class.

Dillard Adney, 88, of Leander, Texas, died on June 10, 2014. He was born on June 21, 1925 in San Angelo, Texas to William Wilford Adney II and Audrey Lee Dillard Adney. He grew up in San Angelo and Corcoran, California.

Dee was married for 54 years to Erma Lou Porter Adney, who died in 2000, and is survived by a brother, David Franklin Adney, of Kansas City, Missouri; children, Kenneth Norman Adney and wife Emily of Burnet; Terry Neal Adney and wife Dana of Cedar Park; Gail Kathleen Adney Acord of Leander; and Wesley Dee Adney and wife Linda of Austin. Dee is also survived by six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A graveside ceremony will be held at 12pm on June 13, 2014 at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Liberty Hill, Texas. Reception on the grounds to follow.
