Abram Lanman was a son of John and Martha (Thrasher) Lanman. He married Mary Hills on 14 February 1859 and together they had one daughter, Mary E. Lanman, born on 3 Feb 1860. Abram's wife apparently died from complications of childbirth on 12 Feb 1860 and is buried in the New Lanman Cemetery. On 24 April 1861, he married Helen Adeline Robertson.
