Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, in the Evangelical and Reformed church for Benjamin F. Keeler, life long resident of the Lone Tree community, who died Sunday at Mercy hospital in Iowa City. Rev. Otto Baumann officiated at the services. Mrs. Townsend Brown, organist, accompanied Sue Petsel who sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "God Be With You Til We Meet Again."

Benjamin Keeler, who passed away at the age of 72 years, 11 months and 6 days, was born in Lone Tree, September 16, 1881, the son of Amos and Catherine Swink Keeler. On March 17, 1905 in Muscatine, Iowa he was united in marriage to Susan Jane Bell, who preceded him in death on January 16, 1952.

Surviving relatives of Mr. Keeler include the following children, Mrs. Jennie Fagerlind, Waterloo, Iowa, Mrs. Bernadine Tobia, Muscatine, Mrs. Frank Maher, LeCIair, Iowa, William Keeler, Scott Air Base, Belleville, Illinois, Stanely, John Keith, Bruce and Robert Keeler all of Lone Tree. One brother, Amos B. Keeler of Downey California, also survives. Preceding him in death were his wife, one daughter, Helen Hubbard, one son James, one brother, Theodore Keeler, one sister Jennie Rhodes and a half sister, Georgia Groves.

Interment was in the Lone Tree cemetery with Sorden and Adams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers at the services were Raymond Lorack, William Kirkpatrick, Gordon Morrison, John Martin, Paul Yedlik and Harold Kral. Flower helpers were Mrs. William Kirkpatrick, Mrs. Glenn Johnston, Mrs. Raymond Lorack, and Mrs. Raymond Swanson.
