Of Mt. Morris, age 83, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at home. The funeral service will take place 1:00 pm , Monday, July 2, 2012, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Rev. Cathy Read will officiate with private burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Sunday, from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm and Monday, from 12:00 noon until time of service at 1:00 pm.
Lester was born March 9, 1929, in Alpena, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse and Emma (Lapine) Ford. He and Betty Tracy were united in marriage August 13, 1949. He worked for Oskey Brothers Construction as a brick layer for 35 years until his retirement. Lester enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory: three children, Sandra and husband, Harold Lee, Richard and wife, Susan Ford and Frances Ford; seven grandchildren, Harold Lee II and fiance, Aimee Hopper, Stephanie and husband, Jason Jones, Amanda Ford, Richard Ford Jr., Angela and husband, Michael Eichhorn, Autumn Howard, and fiance, Eric Joseph, and Amy Bancroft and fiance, Tony Duty; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; son, Lester; grandson, David; and five brothers, Harold, Henry, Harrison, Raymond and Frederick.
