He was born February 25, 1927 to Robert W. Sollinger and Marie Beaulieu Sollinger in Syracuse, N.Y. He attended Hamilton College for his undergraduate work and did his post-graduate work at Fairfield University. He was a guest lecturer at Yale University School of Design and also at Syracuse University Newhouse School of Journalism.
He began his career in Public Relations and Advertising with Motorola in 1952 in Chicago, Ill. In 1952 he returned to Syracuse, N.Y. to join the General Electric Co. and in 1963 joined the IBM Corp. at their corporate headquarters in Armonk, N.Y. He retired from IBM in 1978, having received several professional awards, including the prestigious Graphic Arts Award in 1968 and 1970.
In his retirement he enjoyed being an active participant in the Warwick Historical Society and pursuing his many other interests. He particularly enjoyed Warwick and the many friends he made in the community.
Interment will be at the Crown Hill Memorial Park in Clinton, N.Y. on a hillside overlooking the Chapel at Hamilton College across the valley.
It is requested that in lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make a contribution to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc., or the charity of one's choice.
On Friday, June 3rd from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, the family will be at home to receive friends and neighbors to celebrate his life.
