The daughter of Frederick Weil and Hazel Jane Gilbert, she was born July 28, 1923, in Mooers, NY, and grew up in Clinton, NY. She earned her B.A. in Music at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ.
Shirley married Robert W. Sollinger, Jr., July 5, 1952, in Penn Yan, NY. They lived in Bedford, NY, and later in Warwick, NY. Together they had five children.
Shirley was a lovely, positive person always happy to see her friends and relatives. Much to the worry and fear of her family, Shirley loved to drive fast because, she explained, "it helps you to pay attention". She worked as a librarian at the Thrall Library in Middletown, NY, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Alan Weil. She is survived by her children; grandchildren; her brother; nieces; and nephew.
Shirley's graveside service will be at Crown Hill Memorial Park in Clinton, NY. Published in The Observer-Dispatch on Aug. 30, 2016
