GERD DIRKS OF LANGWORTHY PASSES AWAY
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, August 25, at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church for Gerd Dirks who passed away at his home in Langworthy on August 21 after a long illness. Prayer services were held at the Goettsch Funeral Home the same afternoon.
Gerd Dirks was born Feb. 11, 1868, at Knoxville, Iowa. A son of Harm Dirks and Engel Rickels, he was married to Fredricka Dirks March 2, 1899.Mr. Dirks moved to Jones County in 1878 and has resided in Wayne Township his entire life. He farmed near Langworthy until 1936, when he retired and moved to Langworthy.
Surviving besides his wife, are five sons, George H. Dirks, Anamosa; William D. Dirks of Hopkinton, John F. Dirks, Anamosa; August J. Dirks and Rhinehart Dirks both of Langworthy and three daughters, Mrs. Henry A. Harms, Monticello; Mr. William Oltmanns of Martelle, and Mrs. John Martinsen of Anamosa.
