Maxine Wimmer Burdick, age 85, of Duchesne, died November. 14, 1995 in the Cedar Cleat Care Center.


She was born August 4, 1910 in Duchesne to John David and Emma Cowan Wimmer. She married Charles Burdick July 29, 1929 in Preston, Idaho. He died July 23, 1946.


Maxine was the Duchesne County Recorder for 32 years. Graduated from the old B.Y. High in Provo. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1937 and held all local since 1937 and held all offices and served in the leadership of District #9, Department Chapeau of the 8 & 40. Member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, member of the LDS Church and served as primary teacher many years, in the Relief Society and various other teaching and leadership positions.


Maxine was instrumental in getting programs for the handicapped in the county, and was a rounder of the Duchesne County Assoc. for Retarded Children and has been active with the Uintah Basin Assoc. for handicapped children. She was an active member of the Republican Party for many years.


She is survived by sons and daughters, Charles H. (Sherrie) Burdick, John W. (Pattie) Burdick, Gerald L. (Margie) Burdick, Carolyn (Ralph) Madsen, and Shirlie Burdick, all of Duchesne. 21 Grandchilden, 38 great-grandchildren, 1 grandchild. Sisters, Phyllis Day, Duchesne and Dorothea Morton, Salt Lake City.


She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Meriwether, son-in-law, Duane Meriwether, and brothers Harold J. Wimmer and Neville Wimmer.


Funeral services were Saturday, November 18, 1995 at 11 am. at the Bridgeland LDS Church.


Burial was in the Duchesne Cemetery under direction of the Hullinger-Olpin Mortuary.
