Joan was born Dec. 7, 1933, in Humeston, Iowa, to Doyle and Ova (Gibbs) Halfhill. She grew up on farms near Allerton and Chariton. After her family moved to Mount Union, Iowa, she met Robert Kreidler of New London, Iowa, and they married on June 17, 1950. In 1953, Joan and Bob moved to Hartford, Iowa and in 1961 they moved to their home near Palmyra, Iowa. Joan worked in Des Moines for several years, but her top priority was homemaking for her family.

Joan loved gardening and flowers, birds, sewing, and reading. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed family reunions. Joan was a wonderful mother who guided by example. She was a fun companion with a quick laugh. Joan was a caring friend to many and she'll be deeply missed.

Joan is survived by her three children, Michele Kreidler (Robert Lochmiller) of Indianola, Angela Matthews of Galesburg, Ill., and Robert Kreidler of Indianola; four grandchildren, Catherine (Sean) Stewart, Jacqueline (Jim) McGinnis, Linnea (Joe) Anderson, and Dustin (Erin) Kreidler; four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Madyson Kreidler, and Gabriel and Teresa Rose McGinnis; sisters, Ellie Northway, Vivian Terry, Bev (Arden) Jenkins, and Cheryl Jordan Lee; brothers, Mike Halfhill and Bill (Judy) Halfhill; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Speck. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, in 2009; parents; sister, Carole Stripe; and brother, Roger Halfhill.
