The father of Mrs. Ken (Donna) Ballinger and Mrs. Dan (Beth) Gordon of Bluffton, Bernard J. "Barney" Berghoff, 85, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, May 19 at his home.
Born in Fort Wayne, Mr. Berghoff was a World War II Army veteran. He was office manager with Moellering Supply Co. for 28 years. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
In addition to his daughters in Bluffton, he is survived by his wife, Helen Berghoff of Fort Wayne; four sons, Jim and Robert Berghoff of Warren and John and Greg Berghoff of Fort Wayne; daughters, Mrs. Neil (Patricia) Hayes and Mrs. Ken (Mary) Berghoff-Bundza both of Fort Wayne; three brothers Paul, Tom and Robert Berghoff of Fort Wayne; three sisters, Helen Nix and Mary Cambre, both of Fort Wayne, and Carol Coffaro of Florida; and 31 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Tony and Gustave, and a sister, Alice Devine.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling hours will also be from 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with rosary at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery.
Preferred memorials to Masses, MPD Foundation or St. Mary's Soup Kitchen.
