Born in Mahtown on Sept 7, 1936, Mr. Bergstrom moved with his parents to Funkley at the age of seven and a few years later they settled in the rural Bemidji area.
After graduating from Gale Institute in Minneapolis, he was employed by the railroad for two years when he was called into the Army where he served two years, 16 months in Korea. Since his discharge in August, he had been employed as a telegrapher at Laporte.
