"Tom Gravitt, 74, died this morning at the McCormick Hospital, where he had been a patient for four days. Mr. Gravitt lived three miles north of Higbee and had been a farmer in Randolph County for 54 years. Married four times, he was the father of 23 children, 17 of whom are living.

He is survived by his wife; nine daughters: Mrs. Avery Spicer of Huntsville; Mrs. Viola Smith, Miss Lessie Gravitt, Miss Martha Gravitt, and Mrs. Edward Duncan of Moberly; Mary, Dorothy, Alberta, and Rachel Gravitt of the home; eight sons, Jack, Wilbur, Herschel, George, and Eddie Gravitt of Moberly; Pfc Orville Gravitt, Lutillus and Thomas Gravitt of the home; one sister, Mrs. Clara McDonald; three brothers, Orb and Luther Gravitt of Moberly and Lloyd Gravitt of Springfield, Illinois; 39 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Assembly of God Church conducted by the pastor, Rev. Ola Miller. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery." Moberly Monitor-Index, August 9, 1945
