She was born the daughter of the Jasper and Janice Thager Shearin. Deborah was a graduate of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Journalism. She was currently employed with BB & T as an Assistant Vice President. She volunteered with the Azalea Festival including serving as co-chair with her husband on the invitation committee. She also was a volunteer with the Big Buddy Program and she volunteered at the United Way, where she had formerly served as treasurer. Deborah died at her residence.
