Per Yee-Lin, John Kreider, was born August, 1808 in Pennsylvania. He was one of Wayne's early pioneers, buying land and settling there with his friend, James Street. John first married Mary Walker of Marietta, Ohio. From this union a daughter, Maria E. Kreider, was born and known locally as having been the first non-native child born in Wayne.

John's second wife was Frances Woodbury Pease, daughter of Clarissa Hume and Erastus Pease who previously had lived in Somers, Tolland, Connecticut. Their first child, James Kreider, was born February 5, 1851 and died six days later. Later, a daughter, Mattie F. Kreider, was born June 1, 1851. Mattie married John F. Browne May 17, 1890. Mattie and John had no natural children, but lovingly raised Rhea Kreider Bunting, granddaughter of Maria Kreider and Jacob Danforth Bunting.

James Street never married and lived with John and his family, leaving his estate to the Kreider children when he died.
