Services Are Held For H W Beard
Bamberg, S March 30 [1945] -- Funeral services were held this afternoon at his late home on Railroad Avenue for Henry W Beard, 68, who died in the Tri-County hospital late yesterday. His pastor, the Rev James P Carroll, was in charge of the rites, assiested by the
Rev S M Atkinson, Trinity Methodist pastor, and the Rev F L Frazier, pastor of South Side church. Interment followed in the local cemetery [South End].
Mr Beard was born in the Colston community, the son of the late Billie and Ann Beard. He moved to Bamberg many years ago and conducted a mercantile business on South Main street, as well as farming interests. He was a member of the local Baptist church. His first wife, who died several years ago, was the former Isobel O'Byrnes, and was the mother of his children.
He is survived by Mrs E A Wilkowski, Bamberg, SC, Mrs R T Abernathy, Memphis, Tennessee, Mrs Edward Lazicki, Charleston; and H G Beard, Bamberg; several stepchildren, grandchildren, and two brothers, B W Beard and J C Beard, both of Colston. He is also survived by his second wife, Mrs Bertie L Groce Beard.
