Born May 5, 1851 in Four Mile Prairie,TX Eldest of three sons born to Wilhelm and Elise Warenskjold.

In a letter dated 27 May 1871, to Mrs. Dannevig, Elise says, "Otto was married the second of March to Ophelia Florence Spikes, a beautiful girl both kind and able, who is three months younger than he. It was a candlelight ceremony in the evening and of course took place at her home. The next day we had the wedding dinner followed by a dance in the evening at our house, to which one hundred and thirty guests – some American and some Norwegian – were invited". Otto and Ophelia are not setting up housekeeping, but are living with me for the present. As soon as possible a house will be built for them, a little north of mine; I think they will be able to move in by Christmas."

In Early in 1880's Otto moved to Hamilton County, TX and settled on the north bank of the Leon River. In 1891 he sold out his sheep interests and entered the mercantile business with Sparkman Bros. He was later elected constable and served in that capacity for many years.

O.C. Warenskjold, (pronounced Van Shaw) was a justice of the peace in Hamilton County and officiated at some weddings in the county. Some of the people at whose weddings he officiated lived in the Fairy/Agee/Lanham area before 1900.
He and his family moved to Cleburne in 1905 and he worked as a Sanitary Officer for the city.

His wife Ophelia died November 21, 1906 in Cleburne. She is buried in the Howard Cemetery in Hamilton near Elise and the graves of 5 of her children. Elise Marion, Israel Spikes, Walter, Ophelia Evelina and an unnamed baby boy. Before moving to Hamilton three of Otto and Ophelia's children died within a few months of birth - Thorvald August (named after "Tulli"), Florence Maud, and Louise Elizabeth Warenskjold, are buried behind their Grandfather at the Four Mile Lutheran Church Cemetery in Van Zandt County. She and Otto had 11 children but only William, lillian and Ethel survived to adulthood.
Otto married Ann Overland ‘Ovie' McKee Spikes, his sister-in-law, on June 16, 1908. Her first husband was John Allston Spikes, Ophelia's brother, who died in 1905.
