After comnig to the United States in the early 1900s, he married Amalie (aka Amelia) Burger, a war bride from the Alsace-Loraine area of Germany, about 1919. They resided in Lakewood, Ohio, until her death in 1946. In 1947 he married Adele Manke. They lived in Lakewood and Cleveland and had three children. Rudy was very active in the American Legion, the machinist union, and community affairs.
