Imogene Carmon died Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Belle Meade Healthcare in Paragould, AR.

She was born July 3, 1920, at Senath, Mo., to John and Sally Hall.

Mrs. Carmon had been a member of 7th and Mueller Church of Christ since January 1957, and a member of the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association.


She was an honor graduate of Arkansas State University with bachelor's and master's degrees in elementary education. She taught in Paragould and Greene County for 18 years.


Mrs. Carmon loved reading, crossword puzzles, cryptograms and gardening.

Survivors include one son, Roy G. Adkerson and his wife Evelyn of Guam; and five grandchildren, Michelle White and Robert Patrick Adkerson, both of Pensacola, Fla., Veronica Hoffman of Knoxville, Tenn., Victoria Goins of Pottstown, Pa., and Angela Lindlow of Denver. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and a niece, Loretta Cox of Paragould.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, Roy Adkerson, Lucian Turpin and Cliff Carmon.

Funeral services were in the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Greene County Memorial Gardens.
