Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late William Dean and Edith Cisson Burgess. Mr. Burgess was retired as a metal fabricator, Mason with Ebenezer Lodge 101, V.F. W., and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son; Calvin Burgess, Jr. and wife Christine, Adrian Hyman; brother: Bill Burgess; grandsons: Tyler and Corey Burgess; and ex-wife and mother of his sons: Deborah Summers.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by brothers: Norman Burgess and Charles Burgess.
The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 11 until 12 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon at 12 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will be at their respective homes.
