Raymond W. "J.R." Barnhart Jr., 60, of Connellsville, passed away suddenly Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born Nov. 24, 1948, in Connellsville, a son of Lillian Wallace Barnhart, of Connellsville, and the late Raymond W. Barnhart Sr.

He was Protestant by faith. J.R. was owner and operator of Connellsville Auto Salvage with his son, Scott Barnhart. He liked the sport of bowling, and bowled with the Mountain League team at City Lanes Bowling. He was a regular member of the Fairview Club and American Legion Post 301.
J.R. was an Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Brenda A. Miller Barnhart; a son, Raymond "Scott" Barnhart, of Connellsville; a daughter, Shera L. Barnhart and her close companion, Randall Brooks, of Connellsville; a granddaughter, Alexis Brooks, of Connellsville; and a sister, Ruth Ann Cossell and her husband, Robert, of Connellsville.

In addition to his father, J.R. was predeceased by a brother, Dean Barnhart; and his beloved son's fiancee, Candee Sue Ortman.
