Alfred H. Heilman, 95, of Raleigh, died Sunday May 24, 2010 at Sunrise at North Hills Assisted Living in Raleigh.

Al was born July 11, 1914 in Lebanon, PA to Samuel and Fannie Elizabeth Heilman. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army and was employed with the US Federal Government as a civil service examiner retiring after many years of service. Al was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and an accomplished musician. He was band director in the Wake County Public school system during his younger years and taught private music lessons until he was 88 years old. Al was active with the YMCA of the Triangle, the Kiwanis Club and American Legion organizations.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nancy Young Heilman; daughter, Priscilla Strickland of Garner; son, Dan Wilder and wife, Arlene of Farmville; grandchildren, Chris Wilder and his wife, Crystal of Apex; Lisa Beale and husband, Geoff of Mebane; Melani Wells and Rhomda Wells both of Greenville; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Mrach 17, 2010 at Trinity Baptist Church 4815 Six Forks Roiad, Raleigh, NC 17609. Interment will follow the service
at Montlawn Memorial Park.

First Spouse: Mabel Wilder Heilman (1919-2008)
He and Mabel had no children.

Priscilla Strickland and Dan Wilder are children of Nancy Young Wilder (Heilman) and Daniel Wilder and Al loved them as his own.
