SCHMIDT, REV. JULANNE BEST Reverend Julanne Best Schmidt, longtime resident of Glen Ellyn, passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at the age of 82. Julanne was a faithful deacon at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, and had a passion for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd; and was a member of the 3rd Order Franciscans. She taught elementary school in District 89 for many years. She loved her family, friends, books and goodies. Beloved wife of the late Walter Leighton; loving mother of Peter, Claudia, Booie, Andrea and Henry; devoted daughter of the late Henry and Madeline Best; fond sister of Stephen Best, David Best, the late Henry Best and the late Patricia Best; dear aunt of Jaina, Randy and Melanie. Visitation Monday, Feb. 13, 3 to 8 p.m. at Leonard Memorial Home , 565 Duane St., Glen Ellyn. A Memorial Service will be Tuesday, 12 noon at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 22W415 Butterfield Rd., Glen Ellyn. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the National Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, P.O. Box 1084, Oak Park, IL 60304-0084.

Miss Julanne Best, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Henry L Best of Indianapolis, Ind., became the bride of Walter Leighton Schmidt, son of Mrs. Eunice Clayton of Collinsville, in a ceremony performed at the home of the brides parents on Dec. 17.
